I need a good ‘different’ dinner idea that you don’t need to use an oven with. Something good. I know I can cook steak and chicken on the BBQ but what can I do to kick it up a notch for a good home cooked meal for two.

So I have been dating this guy for 3 months now and all is well. We are both recently divorced and both work weird hours so getting together is sometimes hard. I have tomorrow off and he gets off at 11 p.m + an hour commute so I want to suprise him with his first home cooked meal since the big D. Well I am a good cook but I have no clue what I should make. I want it to be something he’ll remember for a long time and say wow. I know I can cook stake and all that but anything unique and any ideas on dessert?

Hi there! I’m a writer and I’ve come seeking ideas. I need a dish (or two) a woman would cook for a man. My heroine’s cooking dinner for the hero, who hasn’t had a good home cooked meal since his wife died. I’d like it be something "feel good", and homey, that warms your tummy and just makes you feel like you’ve come home. You know what I mean(the proper word for this is eluding me at the moment; it’s right on the tip of my tongue)? IOW, nothing fancy.

I’m banging my head over here trying to think of things and coming up with…well, not much. So, I’d be very grateful for any and all ideas!!

oh, BTW…I came here rather than looking up cooking websites because I wanted personal opinions. You’re making dinner for someone you love; you want them to FEEL loved eating it. What do you make?
comfort food! thank you. Geez. Stuff just falls out of my brain at random sometimes.
you all are wonderful! lots of fantastic ideas. I’m going to have to think about this one to pick one.

Now I’m hungry! lol Thanks everybody!!

we are here at the computer right now having a heated discussion. my husband thinks that because he works (part time now due to cut backs) that he doesnt have to help with laundry, dinner, newborn baby, 6 years old son, house stuff etc. he thinks that he should be able to come home and just relax after a long day of working and making the money. i admit that he does work hard, he is a mechanic, and does manual labor. but while he is a work, i am at home (we both decided that i stay home with our newborn daughter for a while) He is under the impression that i just stay at home and do my nails all day. i keep our home spotless , tidy, and organized while breastfeeding and taking care of our newborn daughter and still manage to put makeup on and do my hair AND PREPARE A GOOD HOME COOKED MEAL! all this while running on a couple hours of sleep here and there. i also bring in unemployment . so what does everyone think? men and women, should my husband still have to help out? or becuase he is bread winner should be he get to come home and just chill?
he isnt an ass , its just that he thinks that he works and that i should take care of the house. plain and simple. even if that means that i am still "working" when he gets home and props his feet up :)
also he doesnt mind helping with the kids. is mainly the house work.
