I know that in Australia to become a chef, the general way to do this is to do a 3/4 year apprenticeship. Is this the same in New Zealand?

I meant, say if I wanted children, would I have time to spend with my family? Would my weekends be complety full with work, etc?

Also..how much are chefs usually paid? and what colleges do you guys recommend?
